### About the Role

LYNX Employment Services are recruiting on behalf of our client for two experienced Senior Finance Business Partners to support financial management, service improvement and strategic decision-making within a local authority.
These are hands-on interim positions requiring experienced finance professionals who can quickly understand complex service budgets, identify financial challenges and work closely with senior management to deliver practical solutions.
This is much more than a routine financial reporting role. You'll be expected to challenge existing processes, investigate financial pressures and provide meaningful commercial and financial advice.

### Key Responsibilities

Partner with Service Directors and managers to provide expert financial advice, guidance and support.

Investigate financial pressures, overspends and underlying budget issues, recommending corrective action.

Develop robust financial forecasts and identify emerging risks and opportunities.

Lead detailed budget preparation and contribute to the Medium-Term Financial Strategy (MTFS).

Identify savings opportunities and support services in assessing financial implications.

Produce accurate monthly and quarterly financial reports.

Present financial findings and recommendations to senior finance officers and leadership teams.

Support service transformation, financial improvement and potential Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) activity.

Coach and support service managers to strengthen financial understanding and accountability.
### Essential Requirements

Fully qualified accountant with a recognised professional accountancy qualification.
Recent and substantial experience working within District or Borough Councils.
Proven senior-level finance business partnering experience within local government.
Strong understanding of local authority budgeting, financial reporting and MTFS processes.
Experience investigating overspends, identifying savings and improving financial performance.
Ability to confidently challenge, influence and advise senior stakeholders.
Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working independently in a demanding interim environment.

### Additional Information

Successful candidates will be expected to work on site in Rugby for approximately four days per week during the initial two weeks, reducing to two or three days per week thereafter, depending on business requirements.
The client is flexible regarding remuneration and welcomes applications from suitably experienced candidates with their expected rate.
Interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams.

### Apply Now

If you're a qualified finance professional with recent District or Borough Council experience and the ability to make an immediate impact, we'd welcome your application.
