Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator to join a thriving and expanding regional civil engineering business based in Bristol. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in producing tenders for a variety of civil engineering projects, ranging up to £4 million in value.. As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for estimating costs accurately, utilising both estimating software and first-principle methods. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and continued success of this civil engineering business.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Produce accurate and comprehensive tenders for civil engineering projects, including groundworks, reinforced concrete, drainage, and general civil engineering packages.

2. Utilize estimating software proficiently to input project data and generate cost estimates.

3. Conduct detailed analysis of project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to identify project requirements and risks.

4. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and other relevant parties to obtain competitive pricing and ensure timely delivery of quotes.

5. Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure alignment between estimated costs and project requirements.

6. Conduct site visits and assessments as necessary to gather information and assess project conditions.

7. Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier bids to achieve optimal pricing and terms.

8. Prepare and present tender submissions to clients, highlighting key cost drivers, value engineering opportunities, and project methodologies.

9. Continuously monitor and review project costs throughout the tendering process, identifying areas for cost optimization and value engineering.

10. Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and best practices in estimating methodologies.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.

2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering estimation, with a proven track record of successfully delivering tenders for projects of varying sizes and complexities.

3. Proficiency in using estimating software, with the ability to build rates via first principle estimating methods.

4. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, subcontractors, and team members.

6. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

7. Detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy and precision in estimating costs.

8. Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing civil engineering projects.
