Senior Engineer – Specialist Research Facility – Culham, Oxfordshire
We are recruiting an experienced Senior Engineer on behalf of a leading main contractor for a specialist research facility at Culham, Oxfordshire.
This is an immediate requirement on a technically demanding project involving complex structures and specialist equipment interfaces. Accurate setting-out, dimensional control and detailed quality records will be central to successful delivery.
You will lead site engineering activities, working closely with the construction team, consultants and specialist subcontractors to resolve technical issues and maintain the required standards.
Key responsibilities:

Lead the site engineering function and coordinate the work of Site Engineers and subcontractors.

Establish and maintain survey control, ensuring accurate setting-out against specified tolerances.
*
Review drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies and resolving technical queries.
*
Coordinate interfaces between structural works, specialist construction packages and research equipment.
*
Develop and manage inspection and test plans, ensuring checks are completed and recorded.
*
Maintain accurate survey, inspection and as-built records.
*
Coordinate temporary works requirements with the relevant design and construction teams.
*
Support construction sequencing and identify engineering constraints that could affect progress.
*
Communicate technical and programme risks to the project management team.
*
Mentor junior engineers and maintain consistent engineering and quality standards.
About you:
*
Proven experience as a Senior Engineer within a main contracting environment.
*
A degree, HND or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, construction or a related discipline.
*
Strong setting-out, surveying and dimensional control skills.
*
Experience delivering complex structures or projects with demanding technical tolerances.
*
A thorough approach to inspections, quality assurance and construction records.
*
Ability to interpret technical information and resolve interfaces between multiple work packages.
*
Confident communication skills when working with consultants, subcontractors and delivery teams.
*
Experience on research facilities, industrial buildings or similarly demanding projects would be advantageous.
