Description:
Senior Electrical Engineer - London
£50,000 - £60,000 | Permanent
Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days home)
A growing building services consultancy is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its London team.
This role suits an experienced electrical engineer, with at least 4 years in building services, who is ready to lead design across several projects, manage junior colleagues and become a main point of contact for clients and the wider design team.
The Role
You'll lead the electrical design on multiple projects, taking each from concept through to a fully coordinated design package. You'll guide and delegate to junior engineers while staying accountable for the quality and delivery of the work.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Leading electrical design across several projects and coordinating building services with the external design team.
* Carrying out load calculations and using software to size equipment and low voltage infrastructure.
* Assessing renewable energy options against sustainability targets and utility network requirements.
* Producing design packages, including sketches, drawings, stage reports, specifications and schedules, at the level of detail each stage needs.
* Working with manufacturers and utility providers to confirm equipment selections and submit supply applications.
* Turning the project brief and client aspirations into a compliant design that meets building regulations, British Standards and CIBSE guidance.
* Visiting site to check the design is built as intended and writing up inspection reports.
* Supervising, mentoring and delegating to junior engineers, with regular check-ins with your line manager on workload and priorities.
About You
You'll have:
* At least 4 years' experience as an electrical engineer in building services, and a good degree in electrical engineering, building services engineering or a related discipline.
* Experience supervising junior engineers and delegating work.
* Confident 2D AutoCAD skills and experience with Revit or similar BIM tools.
* Proficiency in design and analysis software such as IES, Amtech, Eplan, Dialux and PVSyst.
* Experience with smart networks, IT infrastructure and security systems, plus awareness of fire design and life safety.
* A solid grounding in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
* Knowledge of building regulations, planning policy, British Standards, CIBSE guidance and a designer's duties under CDM, plus awareness of trends in sustainable design.
* Graduate membership of CIBSE and/or the IET, with a commitment to working towards chartership and recording CPD.
* Excellent communication, organisation and Microsoft Office skills, with a sharp eye for detail and the ability to deliver under pressure.
Nice to Have
* Experience as the lead contact for the external design team and managing project finances.
* Business development skills and a track record of winning repeat work.
* Experience with BMS, home automation, AV systems or smart power management.
What We Offer
* £50,000 - £60,000 salary, depending on experience.
* Hybrid working: 3 days in the office / 2 days from home.
* Support towards chartership and ongoing professional development.
* The chance to lead projects and develop your management skills within a friendly, collaborative team.
