Description:
Senior Electrical Design Engineer
Bristol
Salary - Up to £65k
A well-established and fast-growing Building Services consultancy near Bristol is looking to bring in a Senior Electrical Engineer to help shape and manage their electrical design team. This is a business that's built its reputation on repeat client work, currently sitting at around 85% of projects coming from existing relationships, and has grown steadily off the back of it.
The consultancy works across a broad sector mix, including office fit-outs, retail, healthcare refurbishment, and fire and safety survey work, so no two weeks look the same. They're based in a dedicated office just outside Bristol, with a small, close-knit team and a genuinely hybrid way of working.
The Role
Sit alongside the current leadership to help manage and oversee the electrical design team
Take on day-to-day monitoring and mentoring responsibility for the wider team as the business continues to grow
Deliver electrical design work directly across a varied sector portfolio, using tools such as Amtech, AutoCAD, and lighting calculation software
Work closely with the founder, who is looking to step back gradually from hands-on delivery to focus more on running and growing the business
Get involved in client-facing work, with scope to build toward tenders and business development over timeAbout You
Proven experience delivering electrical design across office, retail, healthcare, or similar commercial sectors
Comfortable working in a smaller, SME-style environment where you'll wear more than one hat, rather than a large consultancy structure with heavy support around you
Confident taking ownership of your own workload and, ideally, some experience managing, mentoring, or informally leading others
A strong technical "doer" who's happy getting stuck into delivery, not just overseeing it
Client-facing and comfortable representing the business directly, even if tendering and business development haven't been a big part of your recent roleThe Business
This is a business that's grown organically rather than chasing headcount for the sake of it, and it shows in how they work. Benefits include:
Private healthcare for all staff after 3 months' service
30 days holiday plus bank holidays
Hybrid working and a company phone
Quarterly team social events run during work hours, from bowling and clay pigeon shooting to rage rooms and boules tournaments
A genuinely supportive, non-corporate culture where the leadership team is still hands-onInterested in finding out more? Get in touch with Danny Brookes at Calibre Search for a confidential conversation.
