132kV Distribution Network / DNO

London / Southeast England

£70,000 - £90,000 + 21 days holidays + pension + development + company benefits + car / mileage / allowance (negotiable)

Are you a senior electrical engineer with a strong utility design background?

Do you want to lead projects that shape the UK's distribution network and work on high-voltage systems up to 132kV?

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Technical Specialist to join a leading consultancy supporting Distribution Network Operators (DNOs). You will act as a design authority, manage complex projects, and provide technical expertise across HV/LV network systems.

Our client is a trusted engineering consultancy working across the UK electricity network, delivering high-quality designs, cost-effective solutions, and strategic engineering advice. Their focus is on innovation, technical excellence, and client satisfaction.

As the Technical Specialist, you will take responsibility for electrical network design, review and approve engineering documents, manage technical queries, and support project delivery teams. You'll be the go-to expert for high-voltage design, safety compliance, and cost planning, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standard.

You are a senior engineer with significant utility experience, ideally holding CEng/EngTech status with the IET. You thrive managing multiple priorities, communicating effectively with clients, and leading design teams. You understand UK DNO standards, have hands-on design experience up to 132kV, and enjoy solving complex technical challenges.

Key requirements:

Degree/HND in Electrical Engineering (CEng/EngTech preferred)
Minimum 8 years in utility distribution networks (up to 132kV)
Experience with design authority, consultancy, or DNO projects
Strong technical consultancy, planning, and reporting skills
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and team leadershipKey responsibilities:

Lead high-voltage network design and approvals
Manage and prioritize technical queries
Produce cost estimates, engineering documentation, and risk assessments
Coordinate design teams and liaise with clients/contractors
Ensure compliance with UKPN and DNO design standardsBH (phone number removed)
