Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Salary range: £45,000-£54,000 basic + benefits
Jackson Hogg is delighted to be working with a leading company specialising in renewable energy solutions, for the assignment of a Senior Electrical Design Engineer.
Purpose of the role
* To oversee the design, development, installation and commissioning of electrical engineering systems and equipment within the Blyth site.
* To provide specialist technical support to electrical engineering activities in the delivery of offshore renewable energy related commercial, capital and research projects to industry standards and safety regulations.
* To support the delivery of asset developments that address future business alignment strategies while upgrading and supporting maintenance of electrical equipment and related sub-systems within test facilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead problem solving for complex engineering issues, processes and projects.
* Provide electrical engineering expertise for design, development and testing activities.
* Manage multiple projects with responsibility for time, quality and cost.
* Maintain project and test records in line with customer and accreditation requirements.
* Support tenders, budgets, customer engagement and supplier management.
* Carry out technical reviews and approvals of reports, drawings and procedures.
* Keep up to date with relevant technologies, standards and engineering best practice.
* Ensure installations and equipment setups meet required standards.
* Mentor and support the development of engineers.
* Present project updates and proposals to stakeholders and clients.
* Identify opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement and asset enhancement.
* Ensure compliance with ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO9001 and ISO17025 standards.
* Undertake any additional duties required to support organisational objectives.
Skills & Experience
* Technical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Knowledge of electrical systems including substations, transformers, converters, switchgear and protection.
* Experience of electrical testing and protection settings.
* Strong team-working skills in collaborative environments.
* Experience with electrical and mechanical power generation equipment.
* Knowledge of mechanical, instrumentation, electronic and control engineering within renewable energy.
* Design, installation, testing and commissioning experience.
* Experience with MATLAB, Simulink and EPLAN.
* Detailed knowledge of BS7671 installation and testing standards.
Qualifications
* Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
* 5+ years of relevant experience.
