Key Responsibilities:
Low Voltage Distribution Design
Design and specification of low voltage electrical distribution systems.
Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
Prepare detailed electrical schematics and layouts.
Cable Management System (CMS) Design
Develop and design efficient cable management systems.
Ensure systems support safe and organized routing of cables.
Integration of CMS into overall project designs.
Lighting Design
Create and implement lighting designs for various project environments.
Perform lighting calculations and simulations.
Select appropriate lighting fixtures and control systems.
Cabling
Design and plan cable routes and schedules.
Specify cable types and sizes according to project requirements.
Ensure proper installation techniques and safety practices are followed.
Lightning Protection
Design and assess lightning protection systems.
Conduct risk assessments to determine appropriate levels of protection.
Ensure compliance with BS EN 62305 and other relevant standards.
Risk Assessment
Conduct thorough risk assessments for electrical systems.
Identify potential hazards and implement mitigation strategies.
Document and communicate risk findings and recommendations.
RIBA/GRIP Submissions
Prepare submissions in line with RIBA and GRIP stages.
Ensure designs meet all necessary criteria and standards.
Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure comprehensive submissions.
Surveys and QA Documentation
Conduct site surveys to gather information and validate designs.
Prepare quality assurance compliant documentation.
Ensure all designs and documents meet QA standards and procedures.
Client and Contractor Liaison
Communicate effectively with clients and contractors.
Ensure client requirements are understood and met.
Coordinate with contractors to ensure smooth implementation of designs.
Qualifications and Experience:
Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Professional registration (e.g., Chartered Engineer status) preferred.
Experience with electrical design in large infrastructure projects, preferably rail.
Proficient in relevant design software and tools.
Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Additional Skills:
Familiarity with BIM and digital design tools.
Understanding of sustainable and energy-efficient design practices.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
