Description:

NRL’s client based in Grangemouth is looking to recruit a Senior EC&I Designer. This role will be a longterm contract role for 12 months at least, inside IR35, and will have a hybrid working option. 
About the role:

To act as an Electrical, Controls & Instrument Designer on behalf of company in the delivery of Projects. To assess third party designs as being efficient and fit for purpose. To provide E, C+I design support to company Projects.

KEY COMPETENCIES

Provide input to project planning as part of the project team for achieving the target and completion within the budget and schedule; ensuring that all engineering work is carried out in accordance with Asset priorities and schedules as set out in the project plan.
Produce design deliverables required for the role and participate in design reviews and check and approve discipline documents also to check interdisciplinary documents where necessary
Producing documentation deliverables for inclusion in work packs, and or, design books on time to meet project deadlines for assigned packages and scopes of work.
Resolve technical queries and ensure the resolution is satisfactory and ensure that all design changes are captured by the change control process
To be able to conduct site surveys
Generating Cable & Containment Routing Layouts, Cable Block Diagrams and Single Line Diagrams using the AutoCAD software package
Performing cable calculations using Trimble (Amtech), understanding the design parameters that are required
Using the Trimble software to interpret the output and report information
Identifying protective devices and understanding the discrimination of a power distribution network
Using Dialux lighting lux plot calculation software with an understanding of how to incorporate 3D models within these packages to generate working planes for the calculation of the lighting and emergency lighting lux levels.
Capable of participating in Factory Acceptance Tests.
Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications:

HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering with 5 years’ experience.
Knowledge, skills, and experience:

General design experience with a proven track record in the following project phases: FEED and Detailed Engineering (EPC).
Self - starter and an ability to produce electrical deliverables with little input or guidance
Good understanding with respect to applicable international codes and standards and their application
Working knowledge of E3D modelling software
Experience of delivering the following deliverables - Substation design, Cable routing, Area classification layouts, Cable and MTO Schedules, Standard installation details, Lighting and earthing philosophies and layouts
Strong understanding of plant design and equipment layout and ability to coordinate with other discipline design groups to progress a joined - up plant design
Good organizational and time management skills
Ability to problem-solve effectively
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to effectively work in a team
Attention to detail
Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and engineering design programs.
Leadership ability/skills with ability to delegate effectively
Understanding of British and common international standards and regulatory authority requirements in the Process & Energy Sector
Desirable:

Experience with other disciplines including processing plant construction, commissioning, and operation

Good verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal and organisational skill
Motivating and empowering management style
Personal integrity and trustworthiness.
Pro-active attitude.
