Location: London
Position: Senior Design Manager
Sector: Major Construction / Student Accommodation
Project Value: £400m
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
Employment: Permanent
We are currently working with a leading Tier 1 main contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Design Manager for a major £400m development in Central London.
The project is currently at pre-construction stage, with the successful candidate playing a key role in the design process and the upcoming Building Safety Act Gateway 2 submission.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a major long-term London development at an early stage and have significant involvement throughout pre-construction and into delivery.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Leading and coordinating the design process during pre-construction.
* Supporting and managing the Building Safety Act / Gateway 2 submission.
* Managing architects, consultants and specialist designers to ensure information is coordinated, compliant and buildable.
* Managing design programmes, technical information, design risk and consultant deliverables.
* Working closely with the Project Director, commercial, pre-construction and procurement teams.
* Reviewing designs for buildability, efficiency and compliance with Building Regulations.
* Managing design through relevant RIBA stages and supporting the transition from pre-construction into delivery.
* Liaising with clients, consultants, stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Previous experience as a Senior Design Manager / experienced Design Manager with a Tier 1 or established main contractor.
* Strong pre-construction design management experience.
* Experience or a strong working knowledge of the Building Safety Act and Gateway 2 process.
* Experience delivering large-scale residential, student accommodation, high-rise, hotel or mixed-use projects.
* Excellent understanding of RIBA stages, Building Regulations and Design & Build procurement.
* Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams on technically complex projects.
* Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
The project will provide long-term security, exposure to one of London's major upcoming developments and the opportunity to work with an established Tier 1 contractor.
