Client information
We are working with a leading construction organisation delivering a major £130m project and are looking for an experienced Senior Design Manager to join the project team.
Senior Design Manager roles and responsibilities
Lead and manage the design process across the £130m project from pre-construction through to delivery.
Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, consultants, specialist subcontractors and supply-chain partners.
Ensure design information is delivered on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Lead design reviews, coordination meetings and technical workshops with key stakeholders.
Identify and resolve design, technical and coordination issues before they impact the construction programme.
Work closely with the Project Director, Commercial, Planning and Construction teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Senior Design Manager requirements
Proven experience as a Senior Design Manager or Design Manager within a main contractor environment.
Experience working on major construction projects valued at £100m+
Strong technical knowledge and understanding of the design and construction process.
Experience managing consultants, designers, specialist subcontractors and supply-chain partners.
Strong understanding of design coordination, technical approvals and design risk management.
Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder-management skills.
Strong knowledge of UK construction standards, Building Regulations and CDM requirements.
Relevant degree or professional qualification in Construction, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline is desirable.
