Jackson Hogg are thrilled to be supporting a brilliant engineering design and manufacturer in their search for a Mechanical Design Engineer. Due to significant continued growth they are expanding their team.
Our client is a very well-established specialist in the subsea sector working to provide bespoke solutions and equipment for the protection of oil and gas and renewables industry. As a Mechanical Design Engineer here you would be central to the full development of Marine and Renewables projects. This includes the design, testing and manufacture within cable sector. Working to recognise and implement polymer and plastic solutions in replacement of older metallic parts. Working closely with manufacturing teams and shop floor work the mechanical engineers see their work through from concept, design reviews, hand calculation and software simulation through to completion.
Responsibilities include but aren't limited to:
* Creation of Engineering Solutions for customers
* Accurately complete calculations – load & stress - pressure, bolting.
* Undertake FEA evaluation and concept designs
* Lead in the preparation of product definition and specifications
* Participate in mechanical product design including product specification, material selection, CAD design and detailed product drawings
* Application development and design for the manufacture of products
* Work simultaneously across a variety of different projects
* To produce detailed and accurate 2 & 3D drawings for customers (manufacturing drawings)
* Keep all documents up to date in accordance with the project and quality accreditations
* Follow-up customer enquiries / queries in a professional and timely manner
* To travel both in the UK and internationally to customer sites when required
Required skills include:
* Minimum of 3 years experience in mechanical design engineering
* Working knowledge of engineering from within marine or renewables
* Experienced working with Solidoworks and or Inventor
* Fea experience ideally with Solidwork simulation or Abacus
* Working knowledge in hand calculations, and knowledge of design codes.
* Mechanical Engineering Degree qualified or equivalent
