Senior Instrumentation and Control Design Engineer
 
Would you like to join one of the UK's Best Big Companies as awarded by Best Companies? Murphy is currently recruiting a Senior Instrumentation and Control Design Engineer to join our award-winning team known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The Senior Instrumentation and Control Engineer will report into the Senior Engineering Manager supporting a portfolio of energy transition design projects. The candidate shall manage the delivery of safe, practical, and economic designs for internal and external clients to a high standard of professional competence, in compliance with Company procedures, recognised standards and current legislation. 
 
Murphy Applied Engineering is an in-house multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, implementing the 'Better Engineered' judicious driver to achieve smart, safe, and constructible solutions, covering the full range of energy sectors including natural gas, CO2, hydrogen and power transmission. The design team provide a design consultancy services on both internal and for external clients throughout the design lifecycle.
 
What you will be doing 

Represent the MAE Energy Team (Gas, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture), when necessary, at internal and external meetings.
Review Scopes of Works provided by Clients (both internal and external) at Tender stage, managing and developing the returned Tender submission within the specified time constraints. This includes developing cost resource estimates, execution plans and project programmes.
Produce output for the internal design team and the interface with external design houses for several Scopes of Works at any given time within an agreed fixed cost and programme.
Completion of all design documentation for a given Scope of Work including Instrumentation design calculation and drawings; block cable diagrams, loop drawings, layouts, hook ups and general arrangement drawings issue.
Deliver C&I design deliverables at differing engineering stages including: Feasibility, FEED, detailed design, construction support and advice. 
Ensure the successful delivery of a quality C&I Design Package.
Liaise with other departments and project teams within the company with respect to design requirements.
Undertake site visits and investigations when appropriate.
Participate in and manage the successful delivery of all Formal Process Safety Assessments, including, but not limited to: DSEAR, HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL Determination and Verification and functional Safety Assessments.   

Who we are looking for:

Degree qualified in Electrical, Automation, Instrumentation or Control Engineering
Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Institute of Measurement and Control (or similar) or working towards chartership.
Experience in Oil & Gas sector and familiarisation with the IGEM Suite of standards for Gas Pipeline and Installations and metering as well as other National and International Compressor Station and Pipeline codes.
Experience of interfacing with Clients such as National Gas Transmission and Cadent and knowledge of their Electrical and Instrumentation Specifications and Standards including the G/17 and G/35 design assurance process
Good technical report writing skills suitable for submission to stakeholders.
Feasibility, conceptual and detailed design experience associated with the development of all aspects of Natural Gas Compressor Stations, Above Ground Installations and Pipelines.
