Senior Data Engineer Contractor
£650 inside IR35 – 9-12 months duration. Hybrid with a London based office.
This Senior Data Engineer will be spearheading the technical evolution of a cutting-edge retail platform. A highly reputable client of ours is searching for an experienced Data Engineer to deliver a transition into a Snowflake Data Warehouse and will be responsible for the creation of robust data pipelines. This role is a contract position inside IR35, designed for a leader who thrives in a product-centric environment and is passionate about driving technological excellence.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in the development of a transformative data platform, enhancing the company's ability to harness data in novel and impactful ways. As the Senior Data Engineer pipelines, managing data warehouses, and executing advanced ELT processes will be crucial in facilitating seamless data integration, storage optimisation, and the conversion of raw data into meaningful insights.
Experience needed:
- Snowflake expertise, demonstrated by performance optimisation, cost management, and utilisation of advanced features, validated by Snowflake certification (e.g., SnowPro Core).
- DBT expertise coupled with advanced Python skills, specifically in data pipeline development and data task automation.
- Mastery of SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) for intricate queries and performance tuning. Demonstrated ability in designing and implementing scalable data models in both relational and NoSQL databases.
- A track record of designing, constructing, optimising, and monitoring sophisticated ELT pipelines, with a focus on data quality and delivery schedules.
- Hands-on experience with data quality tools and methodologies, including profiling, validation, and cleansing. A history of leading data quality initiatives.
The ideal individual will be an expert with Snowflake, possess a background in leadership, adept at mentorship, performance reviews, and strategic planning. A product-driven mindset and superior stakeholder engagement skills are vital. The role requires the ability to nurture talent, promote an Agile and/or Scrum culture, and guide teams towards achieving excellence.
