Senior Controls Engineer

We are working with an established forward-thinking technology company specialising in the fields of automated electrical, electronic, pneumatic and mechanical production & test systems, in Automotive, Rail and Food & Beverage, amongst others based in Worcestershire, UK. They are recruiting for a Senior Controls Engineer to join their team.
In return for a salary in the region £45.000 - £55.000 along with excellent employment benefits.
They need an enthusiastic, self-motivated and capable Controls Engineer with significant experience in the design and commissioning of turnkey automated systems.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Extracting & interpreting customer requirements
* Contributing to system-level design specifications
* Contributing to external & internal design reviews
* Design, program and build of electrical control systems
* All aspects of PLC software development
* Leading system integration, test and validation
* Documentation for system operation & maintenance
Requirements:
* At least 5 to 10 years significant experience in the design of controls for bespoke, automated systems.
* Willingness to integrate with house software style.
* Expert knowledge of component parts including motors, drives, encoders etc from major suppliers.
* Working familiarity with at least one major PLC, preferably Siemens and TIA portal.
* Experience of using networking solutions such as Profinet.
* Working familiarity with E-PLAN.
* Ability to interpret customer specifications & evaluate customer products & designs.
* Ability to produce robust, innovative and re-usable solutions.
* Familiarity with Machinery safety directive, PUWER, CE/UKCA, SISTEMA and relevant safety legislation associated with special purpose machinery.
* Ability to take a leading role as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team.
* A focus on meeting project deadlines & budgets.
* An ability to contribute to multiple concurrent jobs.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
