Senior Construction Manager – Mixed-Use Development
Location: St Albans
Project: Large-scale mixed-use development
Type: Permanent
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Construction Manager to take a leading role on a major mixed-use development scheme in St Albans.
This position will oversee delivery from RC frame through to practical completion and handover, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, and to a high standard. You will be responsible for managing site teams, subcontractors, and coordinating all phases of construction through to final completion.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead site operations from RC frame stage through to handover
* Manage and coordinate Construction Managers, Site Managers, and subcontractors
* Oversee all phases including façade, internals, MEP, commissioning, and external works
* Drive programme delivery and ensure key milestones are achieved
* Identify and mitigate programme and technical risks
* Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality, and environmental standards
* Chair site and subcontractor meetings
* Coordinate with design, commercial, and client teams
* Manage snagging, testing, commissioning, and handover process
* Maintain strong stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Senior Construction Manager or Construction Manager on large-scale projects
* Strong track record delivering mixed-use or residential schemes
* Essential experience managing RC frame projects through to handover
* Strong understanding of build sequence from structure to completion
* Experience managing multiple subcontract packages and interfaces
* Excellent leadership and communication skills
* Good knowledge of UK construction regulations and H&S legislation
Qualifications
* SMSTS
* CSCS (Black/Gold Card)
* First Aid (preferred)
Desirable
* Experience on multi-phase or high-rise developments
* Background with a main contractor or developer
* Strong MEP and fit-out knowledge
