About the client
Our client, a dynamic and rapidly growing engineering consultancy, is seeking a Senior Engineer to join their Civil Team at their London Office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to advance their career within a thriving and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Promote the company to both current and potential clients.
* Support the Director and Associate Director in developing new business with existing and new clients.
* Gather, prepare, and compile bids and fee proposals for the London office (civil).
* Assist the Associate Director in preparing monthly results reports for the London Civil team, including invoicing and fee forecasts.
* Allocate civil staff resources within the London office to various projects.
* Train and provide direction to London Civil staff.
* Mentor junior colleagues within the Civil team.
* Implement company policies.
* Execute the London marketing strategy in coordination with the Associate Director/Director of Business Development.
* Enforce Health and Safety policies and procedures on projects and ensure team compliance.
* Participate in the Workplace Health and Safety committee as needed.
Required Qualifications and Memberships:
* BEng (Hons) or MEng (Hons)
* Chartered Status with ICE or equivalent
* At least 8 years of practical experience in preliminary design, design management, detailed design, and documentation of Civil Engineering projects, including:
* Highways Geometric and Drainage design
* Flood risk assessments
* Surface water and foul sewer design
* Basement drainage systems, including under slab drainage according to building regulations
* Retention basins, attenuation tanks, and other SuDS features for both design and implementation
* Negotiating with, preparing documentation for, corresponding with, and making submissions to statutory undertakers, the Highways Agency, the Environment Agency, Local Lead Flood Authorities, and other local authorities.
* Thorough knowledge of the following documents and the ability to share this knowledge with staff:
* Design Manual for Roads and Bridges
* Specification for Highway Works
* SuDS Manual
* Sewers for Adoption
* Standard details used by local authorities
