A fantastic opportunity has arisen within an ever-growing and forward-thinking accountancy firm for a Senior Bookkeeper within their Leeds office. This role is designed for an experienced candidate with at least 3 years of practice experience who is looking to manage their own workload while supporting the wider team in a busy environment. Offering a competitive salary of £25,000 to £30,000 per annum alongside a supportive and ambitious working environment, this position provides extensive exposure to a broad range of clients and the chance to assist in training junior apprentices. Senior Bookkeeper Job Overview

Manage day-to-day client bookkeeping across a varied portfolio including sole traders, limited companies, and partnerships.
Complete accurate sales and purchase ledger processing, bank reconciliations, and trial balance preparation.
Prepare and submit VAT returns and CIS returns, ensuring full compliance with Making Tax Digital (MTD) guidelines.
Produce monthly and quarterly management accounts along with supporting reconciliation schedules.
Onboard new clients onto cloud software and assist with digital migration and process improvements.
Ensure all client bookkeeping files are completed accurately and statutory filing deadlines are consistently met.
Assist in the training, development, and day-to-day queries of junior members of staff and apprentices.

Senior Bookkeeper Job Requirements

A minimum of 3 years of proven bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice is essential.
AAT Level 3/4 or ICB qualification (or equivalent) is highly desirable, though candidates qualified by experience will also be considered.
Advanced proficiency in major cloud accounting platforms (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and receipt-processing tools (e.g., Dext, Hubdoc).
Solid understanding of UK VAT regulations, CIS schemes, and Making Tax Digital compliance.
Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative, busy team.
Commitment to onsite working in the Leeds office.
