Senior Behaviour Support Officer needed in Newport – September start.

Salary : £90 - £120 per day

Do you have experience dealing with challenging behaviours?

A large secondary school based in Newport is looking for a highly motivated, flexible individual with relevant work experience to oversee the day to day management of the school’s inclusion team. The role will involve working under the guidance of members of the school leadership team, working closely with staff from across the school to play a key role in delivering pastoral and learning support to learners sent to the Inclusion Room. In addition, you will receive and supervise learners excluded from, or otherwise not working to, a normal timetable.

You will work to address the needs of learners who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning. You will support individuals and groups of learners to enable access to learning and assist the school’s teachers with the management of learners within the classroom and beyond.

The successful candidate will have the following:

CACHE LEVEL 3 / HTLA Qualification / 6 months experience.
Experience working with additional learning needs and/or challenging behaviour
Be confident in their ability to manage a whole class of students within the age range 11 to 16+.
Be able to communicate appropriately and effectively with young people.
Be able to manage behaviour in the classroom to ensure students remain engaged in set work.
Be able to work with lower ability pupils and offer extra support.
Be flexible to work throughout the school within different departments and with different age ranges daily.
Successful applicants will be required to complete an enhanced DBS disclosure and provide at least 2 references.
