Senior Arable Farm and Estate Worker

Are you an experienced high quality Arable worker ideally with experience of working on a large farming Estate?

Are you looking to work within a quality driven small team?

You must have your PA1 and PA2 certificates and ideally your PA4 certificate.

Do you have cultivating, drilling, spraying, fertilising, harvesting and general farm / estate worker experience?

Do you work in a tidy, clean and organised manner to a high standard?

The Company:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and conscientious operator to join a small quality team at a prestigious estate based in North Hampshire. The estate covers around 550ha, of which around 360ha is cropped.

The Job Role:
We are looking for someone who can carry out all the major arable operations, including drilling, spraying, fertilising, and combining. In addition, they will be a key member of the wider estate team, assisting with machinery maintenance and work in the woodland. The machinery fleet includes a John Deere 6R 215 and 6000 litre Knight trailed sprayer. Precision farming methods including RTK steering and Variable Rate seed and fertiliser are currently used.

Location: North Hampshire

Salary Package: Basic Salary of between £35k - £40k Plus a lovely 3-bedroom Cottage including Council Tax Bill paid.
OR
Basic Salary of between £45k - £50k if you do NOT need accommodation and live locally.

Key Responsibilities:
The role involves all aspects of modern arable farming, on a progressive business growing high quality crops. We aim for the premium markets associated with Winter and Spring Barley (Malting and Distilling), Winter Wheat (Milling), Spring Oats (Milling) and Peas (Canning for Human consumption)

Ability to perform operations to consistently high standards, including but not limited to cultivating and drilling, spraying and fertilising, harvesting and grain storage.

An ability to utilise precision farming technology, based on the John Deere and Rhiza platforms.

Working for a business where the Countryside Stewardship agreement plays a big role, there will be a keen interest in the ways that the farm interacts with nature and how the business compliments the estate shoot and vice versa.

A proactive approach to estate tidiness

An interest in woodland management would be advantageous, as this is an area of the business which the successful candidate will be, periodically, involved.

Interaction with a small team on both farm and estate, as well as residential and commercial tenants and their customers

Candidate Skills and Requirements:
A high level of attention to detail.
An ability to work autonomously is essential.
A strong awareness of health and safety.
PA1 and PA2; (Telehandler, Chainsaw, Forklift and PA4s would be desirable but training can be given)
Have the ability to keep accurate records.
Good workshop skills
Understanding of, and interest in, precision farming techniques
Experience in Grain store management.
