Description

An opportunity to join GlobalData’s European light vehicle powertrain practice at a time when the industry is undergoing its most significant transition to new technology in more than 100 years. Based at the Oxford, UK offices, but with hybrid working available, the successful candidate will become an integral member of an established team responsible for tracking, forecasting and communicating powertrain and electrification trends at a detailed level. In recent times, this area has been the fastest-growing discipline within GlobalData’s Automotive Intelligence Centre and offers great scope for career progression for the right individual.

As the industry shifts to electrification, powertrain is becoming a bigger share of the value of a new vehicle, often exceeding 50% and driving huge investment decisions in the sector. We are looking for someone who has a keen interest in the automotive sector, is fascinated by what lies ‘under the bonnet’ and can help us to interpret the impact of technical and regulatory events for our extensive client list. Working closely not only with the powertrain and vehicle forecasting team in Oxford, but also with teams in other regions, you will have the opportunity to use your analytical skill to the maximum in the pursuit of industry-leading research and forecasting services.

Key Responsibilities

- Reporting to the Director, Global Powertrain, you will:

- Assist the powertrain team in delivery of best-in-class pan-Europe light vehicle powertrain databases, reports and forecasts via research and analysis of latest data plus technical, regulatory and demand trends.

- Use all available sector information and research activities to help the team prioritise tasks and predict the impact of such information on the pan-European powertrain and electrification fitment and sales forecasts.

- Be extremely inquisitive about emerging technical trends and what they may mean for powertrain forecasts.

- Assist in the preparation of regional powertrain reports & forecast deliverables on a monthly/quarterly basis.

- Work with local and global teams to ensure completeness and consistency in the pan-European forecasts.

- Manage your own research independently, with necessary input from colleagues and senior managers.

- Support clients as necessary in activities including, but not limited to, promptly answering client questions, preparing data cuts and custom deliverables plus follow-up material and discussion as needed.

- Work with the BD team as required to support the sales, marketing and consulting efforts of the company.

What We Look For

- Strong research skills, and ability and interest in working with large databases and numerical systems.

- Strong database skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Excel and PowerPoint.

- Good organizational and time management skills, capable of working independently, multi-tasking, effectively prioritising and delivering on time.

- The ability to discover, analyse, assess and interpret relevant information.

- The ability to recognise key issues, threats, and trends across the automotive powertrain sector.

- A willingness to demonstrate flexibility with the ability to creatively problem-solve.

- Strong relationship building skills, able to build up connections both within GlobalData and in the industry to facilitate in-depth research.

- Excellent spoken and written English with the ability to communicate findings and ideas.

- Bachelor’s degree or above. Preferably in engineering or automotive-related discipline.

A minimum of two years’ experience working in a technical analytical role would be seen as an advantage.

- Experience in automotive research or market intelligence in the European or global automotive industry would be highly advantageous, but not essential.
