Senior AI Software Engineer
Location: Cardiff (Hybrid - a couple of times per month in the office)
Salary: £55,000 - £75,000+ per annum, depending on experience
Clearance: SC Clearance Eligibility Required
CPS Group are supporting a global IT consultancy who are looking to expand their AI and Software Engineering function due to an increase in projects across the Public Sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior AI Software Engineer to design, build and deploy AI-powered applications using Microsoft Azure, working on innovative projects within secure and highly regulated environments.
The Role:
* Design, build and deploy AI Agentic tools and applications using Microsoft Azure.
* Develop production-ready software and APIs using C#/.NET and Azure AI services.
* Build multi-agent systems and AI-powered workflows, integrating with existing applications and data sources.
* Apply techniques such as prompt engineering, RAG and agent orchestration to improve AI performance.
* Implement AI security, monitoring, testing and governance measures.
* Take ownership of solutions throughout the full development lifecycle, from initial design through to production.
* Work closely with clients and technical stakeholders to deliver AI solutions that meet business requirements.
* Support and mentor other engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
Required Experience:
* Strong software engineering experience using C#/.NET and Microsoft Azure.
* Essential experience building AI Agentic tools and applications.
* Experience developing and deploying AI solutions into live production environments.
* Strong understanding of APIs, backend services and enterprise application integration.
* Experience with Azure AI services, Azure OpenAI, AI Search or similar technologies.
* Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering and AI orchestration.
* Python experience is desirable but not essential.
* Experience working with Public Sector, or other regulated environments would be beneficial.
* Must be eligible to obtain SC Security Clearance.
