Key Responsibilities
* Team Management: Lead the mechanical design engineering team, overseeing the production of parts, assembly, and installation drawings in compliance with the Design Office Handbook (DOH) and appropriate Certification Basis (e.g., CS-27, CS-29).
* Team Development: Support the growth and development of the mechanical design engineering team.
* Compliance and Verification: Act as the accountable person for the checking and compliance verification of design data, as approved by the Head of Airworthiness.
* Collaboration: Liaise with Senior Engineering functions and external sub-contractors on mechanical/structural design aspects.
* Process Improvement: Support the development and evolution of processes and procedures related to mechanical design.
* Production Support: Serve as the focal point for production and installation engineers on mechanical/structural design matters.
* Customer Interaction: Create and contribute to customer-facing design reviews throughout the design life cycle.
* Survey Management: Oversee detailed aircraft surveys during quotation and delivery stages.
Essential Experience
* Experience in an Aerospace Design Office as a Structures (Panel 3) check signatory and CVE, or significant progress towards this.
* Proven track record in creating conceptual structures/mechanical designs.
* Knowledge of mechanical/structural techniques and solutions for aerospace applications, including material selection, corrosion protection, fuselage hardpoint interfaces, and cabin structures.
* Familiarity with current and future aerospace structural manufacturing processes.
* Experience in leading people and/or projects in a complex engineering environment.
Qualifications
* HNC/HND/Degree in a relevant engineering subject.
* Ability to achieve SC security clearance.
