SEND & SEMH Tutors - Herefordshire

Location: Herefordshire

Phase: Primary / Secondary / SEND / SEMH

Working arrangement: In-person

Quantum Scholars is looking for experienced, supportive and dedicated SEND and SEMH Tutors to work with children and young people across Herefordshire. These are in-person tutoring roles and are not online work.

The roles will involve providing personalised educational support to students who may have additional learning needs, SEND requirements or social, emotional and mental health needs. Tutors will be expected to build positive and trusting relationships with students, provide a consistent approach to learning and adapt their teaching to meet individual needs.

We are looking for tutors who are passionate about helping young people re-engage with education, build confidence and make meaningful academic and personal progress.

The role may involve

Delivering one-to-one or small-group tuition to children and young people
Supporting students across core subjects such as English and Maths, depending on experience
Supporting students with SEND and/or SEMH needs
Planning engaging, accessible and personalised learning activities
Adapting teaching approaches to suit individual abilities, learning needs and levels of engagement
Building positive, consistent and trusting relationships with students
Helping students develop confidence, resilience, independence and positive attitudes towards learning
Supporting students who may have struggled within a traditional school environment
Encouraging students to re-engage with education and develop their learning skills
Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback
Working collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required
Maintaining clear and professional communication
Following safeguarding procedures at all timesEssential requirements

Experience working with children or young people in an educational, tutoring or support setting
Experience working with students with SEND and/or SEMH needs
Experience delivering one-to-one or personalised support is desirable
The ability to adapt teaching and learning approaches to meet individual needs
Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
A patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach
The ability to build trust and positive relationships with young people
A genuine commitment to helping children and young people achieve their potential
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check, where required
Satisfactory professional references
