We, GSL Education, are seeking to appoint an outstanding, experienced SENDCo who has high expectations and believes that all pupils can and deserve to succeed. The position is due to commence from September 2024 and would require the SENDCo to work alongside, and be line managed by the current Assistant Head Teacher for Inclusion.
SENDCO Main responsibilities:
Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEND or a disability
Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
Have a strategic overview of provision for pupils with SEND or a disability across the school, monitoring and reviewing the quality of provision through the use of agreed methodologies
Work with early years providers, other schools, educational psychologists, health and social care professionals, and other external agencies where required
The SENDCo will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and young people and follow school policies as well as the staff code of conduct.
To lead the High Needs In School Provision with some teaching responsibility
Responsibilities And Qualities Required:
Be committed to education and raising standards
Have previous experience and understanding of teaching in the primary phase
Be committed to inclusive practice
Lead and work effectively as part of a team, acting as a positive role model
Possess a thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and experience in the role of SENDCo
Have the knowledge and expertise to build on established processes and systems
Have experience of delivering training/leading INSET
Undertake observations of pupils and support teachers with strategies to ensure better outcomes for pupils
