SEND Teaching Assistant – Young Adults with Complex Needs

Location: Northfield, Birmingham
Pay: £100–£125 per day (depending on experience)
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday (Term Time)
Start Date: September 2026
Smile Education is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and well-established specialist college in Northfield, Birmingham.

This full-time role offers the opportunity to support young adults aged 19–25 with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and complex learning needs as they develop communication, independence and essential life skills in a nurturing and inclusive environment. You'll be joining a well-established specialist further education college that is dedicated to supporting young adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and complex needs.

The college provides a personalised, student-centred curriculum that focuses on communication, independence, community inclusion and preparing students for adulthood. Working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team, you'll help create meaningful learning experiences that build confidence, encourage independence and celebrate every achievement—no matter how big or small.

The Role

Support students with their learning, communication and personal development.
Work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver engaging, tailored learning activities.
Adapt resources and classroom activities to meet individual learning needs.
Encourage confidence, independence and participation in all aspects of college life.
Build positive, trusting relationships with students.
Help maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.We're looking for someone who is:
