Location: Bury.
Pay Rate: £95–£110 per day DOE
Start Date: ASAP.
Contract: Full-time, Long-term, Monday to Friday
Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a full-time, long-term role?
Do you have experience supporting young people with Autism and Social Communication needs?
Cover People are looking for a confident, patient and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary SEND school in Bury.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building genuine relationships with young people and wants to make a real difference to their confidence, learning and independence.
The Role:
Support secondary-aged students with Autism and Social Communication needs.
Provide 1:1 and small-group support both in and outside the classroom.
Build strong, positive relationships and become a trusted member of the students’ support network.
Help students access learning and overcome barriers to engagement.
Support communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and independence. Use positive and consistent strategies to manage challenging situations.
Encourage students to develop confidence, resilience and essential life skills.
Work closely with teachers and the wider SEND team to provide consistent support.
Adapt your approach to meet individual students’ needs and communication styles.
The Ideal Candidate:
Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or working in a similar SEND role.
Experience supporting young people with Autism and/or Social Communication needs.
Patient, calm and resilient, with a positive approach to behaviour.
Confident working with secondary-aged students.
Able to build rapport quickly and form positive relationships.
Flexible, proactive and happy to get stuck in.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Passionate about helping young people make progress and become more independent.
