Description:

SEND Teaching Assistant
KS1 or KS2
Are you a skilled and resilient practitioner with a passion for supporting children with SEND and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)?
We are seeking committed and highly capable SEND Teaching Assistants (Level 3 qualified or equivalent) to work across Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2, delivering targeted interventions and personalised support for pupils with a range of additional needs and EHCP provision.
This role is focused on improving outcomes through carefully planned, evidence-informed intervention work and high-quality 1:1 differentiated learning. You will support children with ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, cognition and learning difficulties, communication needs, and physical and sensory needs. You will play a key role in helping pupils develop attention and focus, emotional regulation, independence and confidence through tailored breakout sessions and targeted EHCP support.
About Us
Coopers Edge School is a warm, inclusive and ambitious school community where both pupils and staff are supported to achieve their very best.
We are proud to offer a calm, organised and well-resourced learning environment, supported by a highly experienced SEND team and dedicated pastoral staff. Our provision is further strengthened by our own Speech and Language Teaching Partner, ensuring specialist support is embedded within the school. We benefit from strong collaboration and professional development through the Gloucester Schools Partnership, alongside excellent in-house training and leadership development opportunities for all staff.
Ofsted (October 2023): GOOD
Staff Wellbeing & Benefits
We value our staff and actively support their wellbeing through:
* A wellbeing package including medical support, advice and a 24/7 helpline
* Opportunities for free lunches and flu vaccinations
* Parents’ meetings held during the school day
* Subject leader release time
* A robust appraisal system supporting career progression
* A commitment to reducing unnecessary paperwork
* Regular opportunities to socialise as a team
The Role
You will work closely with class teachers, the SENDCo and the wider SEND team to deliver and adapt targeted interventions that enhance pupil progress and remove barriers to learning. A significant aspect of this role involves supporting pupils with EHCPs through personalised provision, structured interventions and consistent emotional and academic support.
Your responsibilities may include:
* Delivering tailored 1:1 and small-group interventions linked to EHCP outcomes
* Supporting pupils with ADHD and attention and focus difficulties
* Delivering interventions across the six areas of learning
* Supporting children with SEMH needs, particularly emotional regulation and self-management
* Leading phonics interventions and reading development programmes
* Providing writing scaffolding, structured literacy support and handwriting development
* Implementing cognition and learning strategies to support access to learning
* Supporting physical and sensory regulation needs, including structured movement or “fizzy” activities to promote engagement and focus
* Monitoring and tracking pupil progress, providing clear feedback to teachers and adapting provision to maximise impact
*
This is a proactive, hands-on role requiring experience of working with primary-aged children, strong initiative and the ability to adapt strategies to meet individual needs. A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is essential, and experience supporting pupils with EHCPs and SEND in a primary setting is highly desirable.
We Are Looking For Someone Who Is:
* Patient, calm and emotionally resilient
* Skilled in delivering structured, measurable interventions
* Confident supporting pupils with ADHD and SEMH needs
* Able to build positive, professional relationships with pupils, staff and families
* Organised and proactive, with strong initiative
* Committed to maintaining high expectations alongside a nurturing approach
This role would suit someone who understands that effective intervention work requires consistency, adaptability and a firm belief that every child can succeed.
