SEND Teaching Assistant – Bristol (BS4 & BS16) | Full-Time | Permanent Opportunity

1 Year SEND Experience Required | Complex Needs & PMLD

Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time role where you can make a genuine difference every day?

Protocol Education is recruiting experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to work in specialist SEND schools across BS4 and BS16, Bristol. The schools are consistently recruiting and are looking for dedicated educators who are passionate about supporting children and young people with complex additional needs.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity with the potential to move into a permanent position after 12 weeks.

About the Role

You will support children and young people aged 3–18 years with a range of complex needs, including:

Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
Complex learning needs
Non-verbal communication needs
Challenging behaviour
Physical disabilities
Autism and other additional needs
The role involves providing individualised, person-centred support and helping pupils develop their independence, communication, confidence, and access to learning.

You may also be required to support pupils who:

Use wheelchairs
Require hoist transfers
Require PEG feeding
Need support with personal care
Display challenging behaviour
Have complex physical or medical needs

‍ What you'll be doing

Providing 1:1 and small-group support.
Supporting pupils with their learning and development.
Encouraging communication, independence, and confidence.
Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
Assisting with personal care and physical support where required.
Working closely with teachers and the wider SEND team.
Creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for every pupil.

✅ Essential Requirements

We are looking for candidates who:

Have a minimum of 1 year's SEND experience.
Have experience supporting children or young people with complex needs.
Have more than 1 year's Right to Work in the UK.
Are comfortable working with children aged 3–18 years.
Are comfortable supporting pupils with physical and complex needs.
Are confident or willing to work with wheelchairs, hoists and PEG feeding.
Are resilient, patient, compassionate, and reliable.
Are looking for a full-time and permanent opportunity.
Are able to commit to Monday–Friday.
Please note: This school does not accept part-time availability.
