About the Role

Teach Now is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant for a dedicated 1:1 role supporting a Year 6 pupil with medical needs at an inclusive primary school in Islington.

You will help the pupil access lessons, participate in wider school life and build confidence and independence ahead of secondary school. Alongside classroom support, you will provide agreed medical support, following the pupils care plan and school procedures.

Full school-led training will be provided for the medical aspects of the role, so previous medical experience is not essential. You will work closely with the class teacher and relevant colleagues to ensure support remains consistent, safe and reassuring throughout the day.

The school is looking for someone dependable, calm and caring who can provide continuity throughout the academic year. A trial day will give you the opportunity to experience the setting and meet the team.

Key Responsibilities

Provide consistent 1:1 support to a Year 6 pupil across lessons and daily routines.

Help make learning accessible while encouraging participation and independence.

Complete school-provided medical training and follow agreed care plans and procedures.

Offer calm reassurance while maintaining clear and appropriate boundaries.

Work closely with the class teacher and relevant staff to provide joined-up support.

Maintain appropriate confidentiality and safeguarding standards at all times.

Requirements

Experience supporting children in a school, SEND or care setting.

Willingness to complete school-led medical support training.

Confidence following agreed care plans, procedures and staff guidance.

A calm, reliable and attentive approach to supporting a childs needs.

Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.

The right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS and other safeguarding checks.

Availability to provide consistent support throughout the academic year.

What the School Offers

Full training for the medical support required within the role.

A supportive and inclusive primary school community.

Close collaboration with the class teacher and relevant colleagues.

A meaningful 1:1 role focused on access, confidence and independence.

A trial day to meet the team and experience the school environment.
