TeacherActive is working with a welcoming specialist school in Darlington to recruit a passionate and dedicated SEND Teacher.

The successful candidate will support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, delivering engaging and accessible lessons tailored to individual learning needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for a patient, adaptable and nurturing teacher who is committed to helping every pupil make progress.

The Role

As a SEND Teacher, you will:

Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet individual needs.
Support pupils with needs such as autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.
Create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress.
Follow Education, Health and Care Plans and individual support plans.
Work closely with teaching assistants, parents, carers and other professionals.
Promote pupils’ confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.
Manage behaviour positively and consistently.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

Qualified Teacher Status, QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Previous experience teaching or supporting pupils with SEND.
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
The ability to differentiate lessons effectively.
A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
