The successful candidate will predominantly teach English, supporting pupils who may face barriers to learning due to social, emotional and mental health needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to helping young people re-engage with learning, develop confidence and achieve their potential.

The Role

As a SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, accessible and differentiated English lessons to pupils within a specialist SEMH setting. You will create a positive and structured learning environment that promotes progress, encourages positive behaviour and supports pupils' wider emotional development.

Key responsibilities include:

Planning and delivering engaging English lessons tailored to pupils' individual learning needs and abilities.
Adapting teaching strategies and resources to support pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
Creating a safe, consistent and inclusive classroom environment.
Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and encouraging engagement in learning.
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and the development of positive learning habits.
Monitoring pupil progress and adapting teaching approaches to maximise outcomes.
Working collaboratively with support staff, colleagues and other professionals to meet pupils' needs.
Promoting high expectations, resilience, independence and a positive attitude towards education.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a teacher who is enthusiastic, adaptable and committed to making a genuine difference to the lives of young people.

The ideal candidate will have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Experience teaching English, ideally within a SEND, SEMH or alternative provision setting.
A strong understanding of differentiation and strategies for supporting pupils with additional needs.
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may present with challenging behaviour or barriers to engagement.
A calm, patient and resilient approach to classroom management.
Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
A genuine passion for inclusive education and helping pupils achieve their potential.

Applications from teachers with mainstream experience and a strong interest in moving into specialist SEND education are also welcomed.
