Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

Empowering Learning is looking for enthusiastic, compassionate and hands-on SEND Learning Support Assistants to join a highly regarded specialist school in Camden, London.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a welcoming and inclusive school community supporting pupils aged 4-19 with a range of complex and layered needs, including autism, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties and communication needs.

The school places a strong emphasis on personalised learning, inclusion and helping every pupil reach their individual potential. Staff work collaboratively to provide high-quality learning experiences while supporting pupils with their wider care, communication and wellbeing needs.

The Role

As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support pupils both individually and in small groups.

You will help create a positive, calm and engaging learning environment while encouraging pupils to develop their confidence, independence and skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting pupils with their learning on a 1:1 and small-group basis
Providing appropriate support inside and outside the classroom
Supporting pupils with their communication, engagement and personal development
Encouraging pupils to participate in learning and school activities
Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities
Helping create a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment
Supporting pupils with their individual care and wellbeing needs where required
Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider professional team

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be passionate about working within SEND and committed to making a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people.

You should:

Have a genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEND
Have experience working with children or young people with additional needs, particularly autism or complex needs
Have previous experience within an education, care or support setting
Be patient, compassionate and confident when working with individuals with a range of needs
Be comfortable providing both learning and personal support where required
Have a positive, proactive and flexible approach
Be committed to helping every pupil make progress and achieve their potentialExperience with autism, PMLD or complex learning needs is highly desirable, but candidates with strong transferable experience in care or support settings are also encouraged to apply.
