Description:

SEND Case Officer (0–14) – Hybrid

An East London Council is seeking an experienced SEND Case Officer to join its SEND Service on an interim basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload of children and young people aged 0–14 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), leading on annual reviews, consultations, and placement decisions while working closely with families, schools, and multi-agency professionals to ensure children receive the appropriate support.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND professional who can confidently manage their own caseload and hit the ground running in a fast-paced Local Authority environment.

The role is offering up to £300 per day (DOE) with an ASAP start. The position is based on a hybrid working arrangement, with one day on-site every Wednesday, which is a mandatory and non-negotiable requirement.

Main Duties:

Manage a caseload of children and young people aged 0–14 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Lead on annual reviews, ensuring statutory processes are completed within required timescales.
Coordinate consultations with schools, educational settings, and partner agencies to secure appropriate provision.
Make informed and defensible placement decisions based on professional advice and statutory guidance.
Liaise with parents, carers, schools, and multi-agency professionals to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.
Review professional advice and recommendations to ensure EHCPs remain accurate and appropriate.
Maintain accurate case records and update relevant case management systems.
Work collaboratively with education, health, and social care professionals to support children and families.
Ensure statutory duties under the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice are met at all times.
Requirements:

Recent experience working within a Local Authority SEND Service as a SEND Case Officer, SEND Caseworker, or SEND Assessment Officer.
Proven experience managing annual reviews within a Local Authority SEND team.
Strong knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice, and associated legislation.
Ability to manage a busy caseload and work to statutory deadlines.
Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must be able to attend the office every Wednesday.
