SENCO - ASSISTANT HEADTEACHER
This SEN school is offering an exciting opportunity for an ambitious SENCO to take on a permanent role from September 2026. You will join a setting where strong leadership, safeguarding, education and clear strategic direction matter. This is a role for someone who wants to influence practice across the whole school while ensuring SEN provision is well led, well organised, and centred around pupil progress.

The Role:
As a SENCO you will be an integral part of the SLT of this amazing school where you will also take on a dual leadership role as Assistant Headteacher. Your primary brief is the development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision across the school, sharing inspiration and strategies to create a whole of school approach to ensuring the children and young adults you support are able to reduce barriers to learning, build confidence, gain social awareness and enjoy learning.
Part of your role will be to work with the SLT, colleagues, parents, carers and third party agencies to ensure that every connection with a child has value and impact.
You will help with direction, supporting staff, coordinating interventions, and making sure pupils with additional needs receive effective and well-planned support across the school.
We are looking
We are looking for a qualified SENCO, experienced leader with a strong understanding of SEN practice, and the day-to-day realities of a SEN provision. You must be able to communicate clearly, build strong relationships with staff and families, and balance whole-school life with the detail needed to make SEN support work effectively. You are confident leading others and committed to improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
