Overview:
A supportive and community-focused institution in Letchworth is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Year 5 Teacher to join our team. This special role involves teaching a small class of 12 children, each with specific medical or special educational needs (SEN). The ideal candidate will have a robust background in managing similar environments and a passion for making a significant impact in the lives of children with additional needs.
Responsibilities:
* Deliver tailored educational activities designed specifically for SEN students, ensuring accessibility and engagement.
* Develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with SEN coordinators, therapists, and families to meet the unique needs of each student.
* Monitor and assess students' progress, adapting teaching methods to suit individual learning styles and requirements.
* Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages students to thrive both academically and socially.
* Work closely with other teaching staff, medical professionals, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support.
* Engage with parents and caregivers regularly to discuss their child’s progress and ways to support learning at home.
* Participate in ongoing professional development to keep up-to-date with the latest teaching practices and SEN strategies.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a focus or qualification in Special Educational Needs.
* Proven experience working with children who have medical needs and/or SEN.
* Strong understanding of the strategies needed to manage and motivate students with diverse needs.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with staff, parents, and external agencies.
* A compassionate and patient approach, with a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
