Description:

SEN Teaching Assistant / Support Worker - Autism (ASD)

Nest Education are currently working on behalf of a specialist SEN School located in the beautiful Lancashire countryside, just outside of Longridge. We are seeking applications from individuals who are looking to commit to a full time role, supporting on a 121 basis , supporting a child with Autism (ASD).

The child has an EHCP for Autism (ASD), is non verbal, with high levels of sensory needs, and so therefore you will need to be very nurturing in your approach, and be able to build a connection with him quickly and effectively. All Teachers and Teaching Assistants are issued with PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) cards, and this will allow you to communicate with the child and understand their triggers more effectively. The child currently attends the school's college provision, and therefore you will need to feel comfortable supporting an older child with Autism (ASD).

The role will be working Monday to Friday, 9am to 3.00pm, and will commence at the start of the Autumn Term, and will continue until Christmas. There may be the potential for this to extend further, or support with other children if both parties are happy. You will be working with a team to support learners in the classroom, made up of a Class Teacher and several other Teaching Assistants, also supporting children with Autism (ASD)

To be successful in the role of SEN Teaching Assistant / Support Worker you will need:

* Experience of supporting children or adults with Autism (ASD) either in a school setting, residential care or in the community as Teaching Assistant or Support Worker.
* Ideally you will also have a Level 2 or 3 qualification in either Supporting Teaching and Learning or Health & Social Care.
* The ability to commute to a rural location on a daily basis.
* Full time availability from Monday 2nd September until Friday 20th December (Consistency is key for this child, so time off will not allowed unless in school Holidays)

If you are interested in the role of SEN Teaching Assistant / Support Worker and would like to apply then please send your CV to Nest Education via the apply button for immediate consideration.

This is a temporary role unless advertised otherwise.
