SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary - Peterborough

Aspire People are currently recruiting for dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to work within a specialist SEN school in Peterborough, supporting primary-aged pupils between 4 and 11 years old.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a nurturing and supportive educational environment, working with children who have a range of additional needs, including autism and moderate to severe learning difficulties.
The school places a strong emphasis on individual development, communication, independence and creating positive learning experiences for every child.
The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism and complex learning difficulties.
Provide 1:1 and small-group support within the classroom.
Assist the class teacher with delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
Support early development, communication, social interaction and independence skills.
Encourage pupils to participate in sensory, practical and play-based learning activities.
Implement positive behaviour management strategies.
Support pupils with personal care where required.
Create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to ensure pupils receive the best possible support.
The Ideal Candidate:
Previous experience working with children with SEN is desirable.
Experience supporting children with autism or learning difficulties would be advantageous.
A patient, caring and nurturing approach.
Confident supporting children with additional and complex needs.
Able to remain calm, positive and proactive when managing challenging behaviour.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Reliable, flexible and enthusiastic.
A genuine passion for helping children develop and reach their full potential.
