Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary SEN Unit – Berkhamsted

Location: Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire
Start: ASAP | Full-Time
Salary: £87 – £110 per day

Supply Desk is seeking a motivated and caring Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly supportive primary school in the Berkhamsted area. What You'll Do

Support pupils with a range of additional learning, communication, and social needs within the school's specialist SEN provision
Deliver structured learning activities and intervention programmes planned by teaching staff
Help pupils develop communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction skills through consistent support
Encourage independence by promoting problem-solving, decision-making, and self-care skills where appropriate
Assist with transitions between the specialist provision and mainstream classroom activities
Prepare learning resources and adapt classroom materials to meet individual learning needs
Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and professionals to provide consistent support
Maintain accurate records of pupil achievements and contribute to review meetings when required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable
An understanding of needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language difficulties, sensory processing needs, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges
A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
Strong communication and organisational skills
A commitment to promoting inclusion and helping children build confidence and independence
A willingness to learn and engage with specialist training opportunities
