About the Role

Do you have a passion for supporting young children with additional needs during the most important stages of their development?

A highly regarded and inclusive primary school in Barnet is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join its Early Years team from September 2026. This morning-only role offers the opportunity to provide targeted support to children with SEN, helping them build confidence, communication skills and independence within a nurturing and engaging learning environment.

Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff, the successful SEN Teaching Assistant will support pupils through play-based learning, structured activities and outdoor experiences designed to encourage curiosity, resilience and personal growth.

Requirements

To be eligible for this role, applicants must have:

• Experience supporting children with SEN in an EYFS setting
• A good understanding of child development and inclusive practice
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A patient, caring and proactive approach
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team

Key Responsibilities
• Supporting children with additional needs in Nursery and Reception
• Encouraging communication, social interaction and engagement
• Assisting with learning activities, play and daily routines
• Promoting independence and positive behaviour
• Working closely with teachers and SEN staff to support pupil progress

The Ideal Candidate Will
• Be passionate about Early Years education
• Have experience working with children with SEN
• Create positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Be adaptable, enthusiastic and reliable
