SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 ASD Support – Brent

Location: Brent, Greater London
Pay: £100–£115 per day
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: September 2026

Enrich Education Recruitment is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brent seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Key Stage 2 pupil with autism.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or support worker who understands the importance of routine, consistency, clear communication and emotional regulation.

The school is looking for someone calm, reliable and proactive who can build a positive relationship with the pupil while helping them access learning and participate fully in school life.

The Role

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to provide consistent, tailored support throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD

*

Helping the pupil remain engaged during lessons

*

Supporting learning across the Key Stage 2 curriculum

*

Using visual resources, routines and clear instructions

*

Supporting transitions between lessons and activities

*

Helping the pupil manage sensory and emotional needs

*

Encouraging positive communication and social interaction

*

Promoting confidence, independence and inclusion

*

Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO

*

Following safeguarding procedures and school policies

Essential Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly ASD

*

An understanding of effective 1:1 support

*

The ability to support communication, interaction and emotional regulation

*

A calm, patient and consistent approach

*

Strong behaviour-management skills

*

Confidence adapting activities and instructions

*

Good communication skills

*

A reliable and professional attitude

*

The ability to commit to a full-time, long-term position

Desirable Experience

The school would be particularly interested in candidates with experience using:

PECS or other communication systems

Visual timetables and now-and-next boards

Zones of Regulation

Sensory strategies and movement breaks

Speech and language interventions

De-escalation techniques

Strategies for managing transitions and changes to routine

Key Stage 2 English and Maths support

Experience within a mainstream primary school, specialist provision or similar child-focused setting would be advantageous.

Staff work collaboratively to provide consistent support for pupils with additional needs. The successful candidate will receive guidance and support from the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

Have relevant experience supporting children with SEN

Be available full-time from September 2026

Be able to commit to a long-term position

Have an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to complete a new application

Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and professional conduct in schools

Be able to provide suitable professional references
