Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide consistent 1:1 and small-group support while responding sensitively to each pupil's individual profile.
Follow support strategies and EHCP targets
Break activities into accessible steps
Encourage communication, participation and independence
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
Share observations with teachers, the SENCO and other professionals
Requirements for an SEN Teaching Assistant:
A strong SEN Teaching Assistant will be patient, observant and able to build trusting relationships. Previous school or care experience is useful, although relevant transferable experience supporting children or vulnerable people will also be considered.
