SEN Teaching Assistant - Amersham - Start Date: September 2026

A vibrant and inclusive primary school in Amersham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team, with interviews taking place w/c 13th July 2026 ahead of a September 2026 start.

This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate, patient, and proactive individual who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Whether you're an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next challenge or an enthusiastic graduate hoping to build a career in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, or child development, this role offers invaluable experience within a supportive and nurturing school environment.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting children with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and associated learning difficulties

Providing one-to-one and small-group interventions tailored to individual pupil needs

Assisting with the planning and delivery of personalised learning programmes and EHCP targets

Creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Encouraging pupils' independence, confidence, communication, and emotional wellbeing

Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to observations, reviews, and support plans

Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for every child

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting, or a genuine passion for working with children with additional needs

This role is ideal for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or a recent graduate looking to gain valuable classroom experience before progressing into teaching or another child-focused profession

A calm, patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

A positive attitude and a commitment to helping every child reach their potential

The ability to build strong relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families

An understanding of safeguarding and inclusive educational practice, or a willingness to undertake training
