SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

Teaching Personnel is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in South Manchester, who are looking to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students with a range of additional needs, helping them develop confidence, independence, and achieve their full potential in a supportive learning environment.

We welcome applications from recent graduates who have gained experience working with students with Special Educational Needs through placements, voluntary work, mentoring, tutoring, youth work, or school-based roles. We are also keen to hear from experienced SEN Teaching Assistants looking for their next opportunity within a supportive secondary school environment.

Experience supporting students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, learning difficulties, or speech and language needs would be highly beneficial.

About the Role

Full-time position starting in September
Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Work closely with the SENCO, teaching staff, and external professionals to deliver targeted interventions and tailored support
Support students both in the classroom and during wider school activities
Help create an inclusive, engaging, and positive learning environment
Monitor student progress and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and support strategies where required
What We're Looking For

Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN (essential)
A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
Experience supporting needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties is desirable
SEN-related training or qualifications are advantageous
Excellent organisational skills and a commitment to helping young people succeed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
