Are you a resilient, patient and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a new challenge this academic year?

A specialist SEN school in East Cheshire, supporting young people aged 11-18 with severe additional learning needs, is seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join its team. The school supports students with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), communication needs and challenging behaviour.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people develop their confidence, independence, communication and life skills, while providing consistent and positive support throughout the school day.

The Role

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with complex SEN and additional learning needs
Support young people with challenging behaviour, promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning
Follow individual learning, behaviour and support plans
Build trusting, professional relationships with students
Encourage engagement, independence and participation
Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and specialist professionals
Maintain a calm, consistent and proactive approach when faced with challenging situationsAbout You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience supporting young people with SEN or challenging behaviour
Experience working with ASC, PMLD, complex needs or behavioural needs is highly desirable
Team Teach Level 1 or above (desirable)
Excellent resilience, patience and emotional composure
A proactive, positive and consistent approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
