SEMH Teaching Assistant

Progression: Potential to transition onto a school contract
The Role:
Teaching Personnel are working closely with a specialist setting in Cardiff and Newport to recruit Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This provisions support learners who require additional behavioural and emotional support to engage positively with education. The ideal candidate will be resilient, proactive, and committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
Responsibilities:
Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
Promoting positive behaviour strategies
Building strong and trusting relationships
Supporting learning both inside and outside the classroom
Assisting with emotional regulation and wellbeing
Working closely with teachers and pastoral teams
What We're Looking For:
Experience within education, youth work, sports coaching, care or mentoring
Confident behaviour management skills
A patient and understanding approach
Ability to remain calm under pressure
Passion for supporting vulnerable young people
Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply
