About the School

This welcoming primary school is dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where every pupil is encouraged to achieve their full potential. Staff work together to provide high quality support for children with additional educational needs, ensuring they feel confident, valued, and fully included in school life.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide one to one support for a pupil with additional learning needs throughout the school day. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support that enables the child to access the curriculum, develop independence, and make both academic and personal progress.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one to one support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.

• Assist the class teacher in delivering personalised learning activities that meet the individual needs of the pupil.

• Modify classroom resources and activities to encourage participation and engagement.

• Promote positive behaviour, confidence, communication, and independence.

• Support the pupil's emotional wellbeing while helping to maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment.

• Work effectively with teachers, parents, carers, and external professionals to support the child's ongoing development.

• Observe, monitor, and record progress, sharing updates with teaching staff when appropriate.

The Ideal Candidate

We welcome applications from enthusiastic and caring individuals who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs.

• Graduates and final year university students from all degree backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

• Previous experience working with children or supporting individuals with Special Educational Needs is beneficial but not essential.

• A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families.

• A professional, reliable attitude and a genuine commitment to helping children succeed.

What the School Offers

• A supportive and inclusive mainstream primary school environment.

• Ongoing training and opportunities for professional development.

• Valuable hands on experience supporting a child on a one to one basis.

• The chance to make a lasting difference to a child's educational experience and personal growth.

• Opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right candidate.

If you are passionate about helping children with additional needs thrive and would like to build your experience in a supportive primary school setting, this is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a dedicated school community in Lichfield.
