The Role

Remedy Education are looking for a confident, energetic and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND provision within a welcoming primary school in Barking Riverside.

You will be supporting a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class, working with children who have a range of complex SEND needs, including pupils who are pre-verbal and require additional communication and personal care support.

This is a busy, active classroom, so we need someone who is proactive, hands-on and confident supporting children throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

Support KS1 pupils with complex SEND needs on a 1:1 and small-group basis.

Work closely with pre-verbal children, supporting communication and engagement.

Assist with intimate and personal care, including toileting and changing.

Manage challenging behaviours calmly and confidently.

Encourage independence, social interaction and emotional regulation.

Support pupils with practical, sensory and play-based learning activities.

Work collaboratively with teaching staff to maintain a positive learning environment.

What We're Looking For

Strong, practical experience working with children with complex SEND needs.

Experience supporting pre-verbal or non-verbal pupils.

Comfortable providing intimate care.

Confident working in a physically active, fast-paced classroom.

A proactive, patient and resilient approach.

Previous experience within an SEN school, SEND provision or specialist classroom is highly desirable.

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Why Join Remedy Education?

Competitive daily rates of pay.

Full-time opportunity within a supportive school.

Ongoing support from a dedicated SEN recruitment consultant.

Opportunity to make a genuine difference to children with additional needs.
