Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Autism / ASD and additional learning needs?
Do you have experience supporting non-verbal pupils and using alternative communication strategies to encourage engagement and learning?
Are you confident managing challenging behaviours and providing consistent support to pupils across Key Stage 1 / KS1 and Key Stage 2 / KS2?
TeacherActive is proud to be working with a mainstream Primary School based in Long Eaton, NG10, who are looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant. The school is seeking a patient, resilient and enthusiastic individual who can provide tailored support to pupils with complex additional needs, helping them feel safe, supported and engaged in their learning.
The school is looking to take on a SEND Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis from ASAP until July 2027, working Monday to Friday. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will support pupils across Key Stage 1 / KS1 and Key Stage 2 / KS2 with Autism / ASD, non-verbal communication needs and challenging behaviours, using positive behaviour management strategies, visual communication aids and individualised learning activities to support their development.
The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:
A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable
Experience supporting children with Autism / ASD and additional learning needs
Experience working with non-verbal pupils and using alternative communication methods
Strong knowledge of positive behaviour management strategies
Confidence providing both 1:1 and small group support across KS1 and KS2
A patient, resilient and adaptable approach to supporting children with complex needs
