SEN Teaching Assistant

A large, inclusive primary school in Aylesbury is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join its supportive team. With a high number of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and two specialist provisions, including a Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) provision, this is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference to children's lives.

The school is particularly interested in hearing from motivated graduates, including those with degrees in Psychology, Education, Speech and Language, or Child Development, who are keen to gain hands-on experience and build a career supporting children with additional needs.

Equally, experienced SEN Teaching Assistants who can bring their expertise, fresh ideas, and passion for inclusive education are strongly encouraged to apply.

About the Role

Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and communication needs.

Work within mainstream classrooms and specialist provisions, providing one-to-one and small-group support.

Help deliver personalised learning activities tailored to pupils' individual needs and abilities.

Support communication, social skills, emotional regulation, and independence.

Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and specialist staff to help pupils achieve their potential.

Encourage positive behaviour and create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

Contribute ideas and strategies to support pupils' learning, development, and wellbeing.

Who Are We Looking For?

Graduates looking to get started in education:

Degrees in Psychology, Education, Sociology, Speech and Language, or related subjects are welcomed.

A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

A proactive, resilient attitude and willingness to get stuck in.

An eagerness to learn, develop practical skills, and gain valuable school-based experience.

Experienced SEN Teaching Assistants:

Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting.

Knowledge of strategies to support autism, ADHD, SLCN, and other additional needs.

Confidence adapting support to meet individual pupils' needs.

The ability to share ideas, contribute expertise, and work collaboratively with the wider team.

What the School Offers

The opportunity to work in a large, diverse Aylesbury primary school with high SEN.

Experience across two specialist provisions, including SLCN.

A supportive team environment with opportunities to learn from experienced professionals.

Valuable experience for graduates considering careers in educational psychology, teaching, speech and language therapy, or other child-focused professions.

The opportunity for experienced practitioners to share their knowledge and make a meaningful impact.

If you are a graduate hungry to gain hands-on experience or an experienced SEN practitioner ready to bring your skills and ideas to a supportive school, we would love to hear from you.
